Digital “Developments”I am soooo excited about our new digital work center here at the Scrapbook Pad! It has taken a bit longer to get it complete and ready to roll out to customers than I had hoped for. But, alas, the perfectionist part of me won’t allow me to present everything to our customers until I know what every last, stinkin’ button does when I push it! I’m just not big on surprises when it comes to this sort of thing. (Although since owning The Scrapbook Pad I am getting much better at handling them with …. grace.) Yesterday, however, we enjoyed success at printing out the most beautiful 12×12 layouts you’ve ever seen! I tell you - and it’s hard for me to admit - for the first time I’ve actually thought about attempting a digital layout! LOL - it was just a fleeting thought, though. At this point in my life, sitting in front of a computer feels just a little too much like work to me. But I tell you - it certainly did thrill me to see the delight in my digital-scrapbooking customer’s eyes when I presented them with their digitally printed layouts. For now, THAT will have to be gratification enough. Stop by The Scrapbook Pad and see what we’re up to! And be sure and say hello! Jeanie Jones May 25, 2007, Posted in Blog
It’s a small, small, scrapbooking world! It is truly amazing how many acquaintances and relationships I’ve formed since starting scrapbooking around ten years ago. I bet many of you can say the same thing too when you think about it! Between traveling to conventions around the country and participating on various message boards, (and too many swaps to count! LOL) I have made friends with people in cities all over the country. And when I say friends, I mean the sort that I would feel completely comfortable contacting and making plans with to shop (scrapbook stores, of course), crop, or just have dinner. And, there is no doubt in my mind, we would yak yak yak just like old friends. I just LOVE that about scrapbookers! Just this week two old scrapbook relationships arose in my life and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. First, a couple of ladies, (Vivian and Jennifer) attended our Night of Decadence crop and introduced themselves to me and commented that we had a mutual friend. This friend (Jodi) was a member of a message board that I participated in around 2001 and lived in Phoenix, AZ. Jodi recommended they find The Scrapbook Pad and now, two more friendships are formed! Thanks Jodi, now YOU need to visit Dallas! Then, just yesterday, I received an email from a lady in Houston (Karen) inquiring about sign ups for our Donna Downey visit in August. I recognized her name and she, too, had been a member of this same message board from over five years ago. We chatted and now I look forward to meeting her in person in August. I can honestly say that many of my closest friendships have been forged through scrapbooking. Yep, scrapbooking has enriched my life in ways I would have never imagined when I bought that first piece of cardstock so many years ago. See you at The Scrapbook Pad! Jeanie Posted in Blog
Just Another Day in Paradise!Right now I am in Key West, Florida receiving a much needed rest after my first four months of owning the Scrapbook Pad. Initially I dreaded leaving the store - much as a new mother might dread leaving her new baby - but with a week at our time share already booked, I scribbled out detailed notes and instructions, patted the store on the rump and off momma went, leaving the store in very capable hands. I tell you, this has been SO rejuvenating! I’ve received plenty of sleep and I wake up every morning thinking about the store, ideas for end caps and displays, and ways to please our terrific customers. I read the most recent CK and the Autumn Leaves Look Book all the way back from the Dry Tortugas Islands this afternoon and I truly am energized and ready to get back to Colleyville and jump in head first with renewed vigor! I’ve told Bill that this has been the perfect remedy for a weary soul and that he should just whisk me off to someplace “paradise-like” every 3 or 4 months if he really wants to get the work out of me. He just smiled. Hmmmm. See you next week when I get back. Stop by and say hello! I’ll be the one looking bright eyed, full of energy and just a little bit sun kissed! See you at the Pad! Happy Easter!
I hope everyone is having a Happy Easter and are taking the opportunity to spend it with family and friends. Mine was especially quiet as most of my grandchildren were off spending it with their other grandmas. I did have ONE grandchild with me today and that is our newest member of the family …. Miss Amelie! Isn’t she beautiful in her Easter dress?? All things PINK are catching my eye these days! She was born on March 28th and spent her first Easter with Grandma Jones. Keep an eye on our samples in the store. You just might find one featuring this little Easter sweetheart! See you at the Pad! Jeanie April 8, 2007

And a Good Time Was Had By All!We are so inspired! If we weren’t already, our Grand Opening last weekend truly served to invigorate us to plan more events and to search out more occasions to throw more big bashes! Our March Madness Scrapbooking Tournament was a big hit with the contestants and I really can’t say who had more fun - the contestants or our Scrapbook Pad staff! We had a great group of customer “judges” who also spent the day with us tallying scores and deciding hard-fought scrapbook competitions. We’ve had several people ask us to make this an annual event and I can’t think of a better compliment than having guests asking us to do it all again! Thank you to everyone involved - the customers, the contestants, the judges, and the staff. Radio Disney also added to our hoopla by providing high energy games and prize giveaways and drawing new customers to our Pad! What a great time! So what are we up to now? Be on the lookout for more changes coming to The Scrapbook Pad in the upcoming weeks. Our digital “lounge” is under way and whether you’re a full-fledged digital scrapper, the hybrid sort who likes to dabble in digital while still incorporating more traditional scrapbooking embellishments on your pages, or the tried and true “cut and paste” scrapper who simply wants to add a bit of computerized journaling to your pages - we’ve got things in store for YOU! We couldn’t be more excited about bringing this new dimension to the Pad. We think you’re going to LOVE what we’ve got up our sleeves! Drop by The Scrapbook Pad and see how we’re growing. And don’t forget to say hello and introduce yourself! See you! Jeanie

Where Has the Time Gone??I can’t believe it is already mid-March! It seems like yesterday that I walked into this store and looked around, wondering just exactly where to start. I knew that I had a staff that had welcomed new owners with whole-hearted enthusiasm … but there was soooo much work to be done! I knew that there was a loyal customer base that really wanted this store to succeed and be the store that they could turn to for all of the latest and greatest as well as the tried and true … but there was soooo much work to be done! I knew that the store was in a terrific location with the potential for tremendous growth and the size of the store was just begging to be be filled with product and services … but there was soooo much work to be done! Gosh - we are nearly THREE months down the road and we have ALL done soooo much work! It’s amazing at what we’ve accomplished in such a short time. From remodeling, to improving customer service, to filling the shelves with new product - I’m overwhelmed at how far we’ve come. And the exciting part is all of the things that are still in different stages of completion and yet to come! Thanks to this wonderful and LOYAL staff for helping to make this all happen. Thanks to our wonderful and LOYAL customers for continued patronage and quite literally making it happen. And, get plenty of rest everyone, cuz … there’s still soooo much work to be done! Jeanie

Cha…cha…cha…changes!!While at CHA our representative for Fred Hill, Inc. (Cathy Arnold) used the term “cha cha” to describe some cool new paper that we were purchasing! Isn’t that appropriate?? Well, I can tell you, there was plenty of cool new product that we saw (and purchased - woo hoo!) that was indeed, very “cha cha”!! For those of you who might not know, CHA is an acronym for Craft Hobby Association and is THE place to purchase scrapbook and craft product for the upcoming months. And, you will be happy to know, there are going to be LOADS of that product gracing our shelves over the next few weeks and months. I’m so glad we rearranged our store for our painting project and made room for all of this new merchandise! And, speaking of painting projects - I drove directly to the Scrapbook Pad from the airport yesterday to see the progress being made by our painters. Wow! We are definitely not that old store anymore!! The colors are bold and get your attention and are exactly the look that we were striving to achieve. It made me laugh to think that this store used to be called “a step-child”! We have definitely come into our own and are indeed, making a statement! The colors scream “progressive”, “hip”, “fresh”, and “new”. It was amazing to see how many new vendors, manufacturers, and designers are using this very same color palette or combinations thereof! Our color scheme is very timely and we are so lucky to have such a large store that allows us to be progressive and refuse to blend into the role of ”second best”. If you’re not sure about the cha…cha…cha…changes, hang in there! We’re a work in progress so reserve your judgments for the final product! I think you’ll find it very … CHA CHA!! Quote of the Day: “It’s fun to be on the edge. I think you do your best work when you take chances, when you’re not safe, when you’re not in the middle of the road, at least for me, anyway.” - Danny DeVito Come over and hang out for awhile!!
